I have a little Flip Video camera, and also a Sony Handycam, and I take them along with me on my travels. Sometimes, I see interesting things and make a movie. I also have a bunch of older videos, which I am slowly editing and posting as they are finished.
My favorite videos include many fiddle tunes from years past and songs and performers I enjoy seeing and hearing.

Another tune with MJ, Edwin, Jody and Candy, all in pretty much total darkness (1 candle) and the infrared light of the camera. This tune is called "Springfield Girl" (a tune from Marion Thede's fiddle book MJ says she learned it from an old tape of Tom Sauber & Hal Cannon).

A Clyde Davenport Tune, "Old Buzzard", with Mary Jane Epps (fiddler), Edwin (guitar), Jody (tenor guitar) and Candy (banjo), all in pretty much total darkness (1 candle) and the infrared light of the camera. 5.1 surround sound was in use as well. Headphones reveal the individual instruments pretty nicely.

One of a couple of middle of the night jam sessions. Candlelight only, but 5.1 surround sound! The fiddler is MJ Epps, and helping right along are Edwin and Candy. The tune is Cumberland Gap (from the playing of Marion Reese)
Ulupalakua STL work

At the Ulupalakua Electronic site, located in upcountry Maui, 4500 feet above sea level, a microwave dish is moved from the west side of the tower to the east side. Now it will feed the signal to the Big Island and the Mauna Loa summit, 95 miles distant. It was a windy day, so there is wind noise, and swirling clouds above.

I prefer this version over the studio version
I always come back here ❤
Dearest Judee is our Picasso- no less
Documentary is LOST ANGEL - genius of Judee Sill Had & knew her 2 albums by heart back in the day. Her themes of rapture & redemption - like any great faith-based work - are universal. I'm a christian-raised atheist - love as humanity's only chance of survival is not a flimsy or faith-based notion- it's demanding and pragmatic: "Evolve enough to understand and act in your own self-interest as a species, or die " ❤😊
I am just thankful that this exists.
this recording of this song utterly destroys me. i found sill via david mcgown's book on laurel canyon in 2022 - his words about her made me immediately run to my laptop and find her and listen. and the music ruined me faster than i expected from the start. like...there was no moment of hesitation in listening and coming to a conclusion. i was sold down river. nuts bag insane. i'd like to thank david geffen for dropping her - no really - great decision on your part dude. you ass hat.
Really looking forward to the release of her documentary <3
Innocence regained is what you see
snotty rock stars make the world go ‘round
Such a smooth undulating vocal technique
A real poet and a lovely voice. Only learned of her today from an online music article. So many great female artists that I only find after they have passed, like Luara Nyro. An uncle who is a musician told me about her. What passion both these women had!
This genius blows the mind, heart and soul is the world right or wrong. I think right- through the deepest of values
Mind blowing!
I dont know how this came to me but Im speechless. Damn.
A perfect soliloquy, makes me feel like I’m indecently listening to someone’s private song of wistfulness…
I have absolutely no words.
Just learned of her this minute scrolling through my Pinterest homepage! I’m in disbelief that at 70 years old I have never heard of Judee Sill. I believe that God has blessed me with this discovery. She’s absolutely amazing….🙏♥️Beautiful voice and song! 💫✨
Well they did make a movie: "Lost Angel: The Genius of JUDEE STILL" Yes, it is a little sad.
I am in tears listening to this wonderful singer from my era I accidentally discovered. How beautiful and moving this song is. Why didn't I know about her until now? That is my big regret about Judee Sill. I am going to delve into her music now that I have heard her.
No one else writes like this. A tragic loss.
Documentary is finally out on apple tv, I watched it twice. Really good
Finally ….A new documentary debuts about “ a mostly forgotten 70’s troubadour” on April 12th, 2024 on Amazon and Apple TV …definitely worth checking out based on this exceptional and ethereal classic…. “Lost Angel: The Genius of Judee Sill” Heartbreaking story! 💔💔💔
A reminder of what binds us Faded like a cherished photograph That cries aloud and Suddenly comes into view.
Songs from 50 years ago.Never heard by me.
Just discovered her today. I'm so glad I did. What a beautiful song and a talented artist!
Mother of Liz Phair!!!
One of my favorite songs to sing around the house. Love this song.
Not that impressed. In the time of Judy Collins, Joan Baez, Joni Mitchell, she pales. Her voice is so-so. The singer that was over looked but so great was Eva Cassidy.
So you're just going to ignore the brilliance of the songwriting and belittle her vocals instead? I'm not that impressed with your comment.
It's a poor comparison, I would rather compare her to Brian Wilson than Joni Mitchell.
Nice melody and performance but holy crap, these comments are hyperbolic to say the least.
I heard about her yesterday on a French radio. So great, so moving! Why has she ben forgotten?…
Truly Something ❤
Wow.
Not a bad song, but too long.
One of the most beautiful songs I'll ever here!
i saw her supporting roy harper, who had a clean nose,i think, in 1973 at the albert hall london.
It so happens that I finally converted a 1979 vinyl recording of Steve Seskin's "This Good Tonight" to MP3. His version of Freest Fancy is hypnotic. I looked up Judy Mayhan and landed here. Wow, man! A belated thanks for posting this ... 16 years later.
I’ve been looking for this for about 25 years. Thank you!
Sublime in every way. Kissed by a divine muse. Rest in Peaceful Power, Judee. and... forever thank you.
love this song <3 From Brazil, i'm 29
Rip sweet lady. 💜💜💜
Lovely beautiful magic delite by Judee, tonite first time heard on fbi radio Country gig/ Sydney, how fine artists lost to ears, fab stars rarely played, hope fewer lost in chances hidden,we need richness in artists beauty` love love love
Long-time musician/singer here, composer, whatever, this is very nearly, if not entirely, an incomparably beautiful, sublime song, "The Kiss", that I only discovered a few years ago (and i thought i had heard everything..?) i'm praying that Erin Moran, aka 'A Girl Called Eddy', will cover it and make the world whole again with the sheer brilliance of it's re-emergence to comfort the human family..... God rest you safe and close-by, Judee Sill, everyone who doesn't know you yet, still loves you..! I don't at all think it's an overstatement to consider this one of the most beautifully and heartfully-crafted songs of all-time..?
Ohhh yehhh love
World class!!!
She saved me more than once in December 1973, with her songs and piano at the "Studio coffee house" on wet, stormy evenings. We just started building a cabin in the redwoods; it rained 30 inches that month; [ 84 inches that winter ] and to be warm and dry, and hear her sing and play, was [ and still is ] truly magical... Thank you, Judy
This is the Gold Standard of postwar popular music.
This is perfect
I just discovered her when I was doing some research on one of her boyfriends, JD Souther. She is talented.
Mayim Bialik would have to play her in a biopic.
She was a nova, flying through space, until she crashed, as we all do eventually
Discovered this artist today. It’s one of those musicians who turn your world upside down.
I'd say her music turned my life downside up.
Judee turns the Universe upside down for me. David I’m sure you agree. And though there’s some animus between you- I dare say without you, David Geffen, we may not have this utter genius - Judee Sill
Dear Lord, what a song.
